Five wrestlers take home division titles on Sunday

ROCKTON — The Rochelle Wrestling Club sent nine athletes to the 2024 Hononegah Kids Classic on Sunday. Five athletes brought home first-place finishes, while three more secured second-place finishes and one earned a fourth-place finish in the wrestling tournament.

Amos Andronic won the 6 & Under Tots A-1 Division with a 2-0 record. Andronic received a forfeit from Hononegah’s Adrian Montiel and clinched the title with a fall over Sycamore’s Cillin Musil. Elias Andronic won the 7 & 8 Bantams C-5 Division with a 3-0 record, securing a fall over Belvidere’s Carter Staver along with a 2-0 sudden victory over Stillman Valley’s Benson Grugel. Andronic clinched the title with a third-round fall over Hononegah’s Huxlee Kudlacik.

Nehemiah Andronic won the 7 & 8 Bantams E-2 Division with a 3-0 record. Andronic earned three consecutive falls over Stillman Valley’s Owen Collins as well as Dakota’s John Pieper and Hononegah’s Quinn Lane. Benjamin Morris won the 11 & 12 Novices K-4 Division with a 2-0 record, notching falls over Oregon’s Theo Kalscheur and Hononegah’s Lorenzo Villareal.

Andrew Eyster won the 13 & 14 Seniors L-5 Division with a 3-0 record. Eyster totaled three straight falls over Oregon’s Graham Gammon, Hononegah’s Drew Broege and Oregon’s Devin Wethal. Wells Millard took second in the 7 & 8 Bantams C-4 Division with a 2-1 record, earning two falls against Belvidere’s Thorin Anderson and Hononegah’s Weston Geddes.

Teddy Millard took second in the 11 & 12 Novices I-5 Division with a 2-1 record, scoring a 8-4 decision over Hononegah’s Owen Lovejoy and a 15-0 technical fall over Oregon’s Julian Kersten. Joshua Hernandez took second in the 11 & 12 Novices J-6 Division with a 2-1 record, notching a 5-4 decision over Hononegah’s Colin Schrader and a fall over Rockford’s Jayden Conell-Wilson. Zander Griner finished fourth in the 13 & 14 Seniors L-6 Division.
