Five Junior Hub wrestlers earn first-place finishes

OREGON — The Rochelle Wrestling Club sent 30 athletes to the Hawk Wrestling Club Invitational at Oregon High School on Saturday. Five Rochelle-area athletes brought home first-place finishes, while nine more secured second-place finishes in the tournament. 

Ty Johnson won the Tots 904 Division with a 3-0 record, notching falls over The LAW’s Ryker Paisley and Streator’s Kennedy Maier as well as an 11-9 sudden victory over Belvidere’s Briggs Frederick. Elias Andronic won the Bantam 703 Division with a 3-0 record, receiving a forfeit from Belvidere’s Jesse Fanara while earning a 12-0 major decision over Metamora’s Quintin Lange to start the tournament. Andronic also earned a fall against River Bend’s Luke Hoffman.

Dominic Escatel won the Intermediate 404 Division with a 3-0 record, securing falls over Rhyno Academy’s Kelby Adriano and Harlem’s Liam Slye as well as a 10-1 major decision over Hawk Wrestling’s Kolton Lowe. Colt Hensley won the Intermediate 410 Division with a 3-0 record, beating Dixon’s Brady Hipple with a 14-1 major decision before notching two straight falls over Sauk Valley Wrestling’s Natalie Norberg as well as Dixon Wrestling Club’s Henry Lawson. 

Benjamin Morris won the Novice 209 Division with a 3-0 record, notching three straight falls against Xtreme’s Garrett Keeton, Rochelle’s Jackson Olszewski and Riot Room’s Michael Campbell. Easton Huff took second in the Tots 804 Division with a 2-1 record, defeating Dixon’s Carson Fichtenmueller and Sauk Valley’s Landon Seeley with first and second-round falls.

Elliot Huff took second in the Bantam 604 Division with a 2-1 record, taking down Dixon’s John Siebert with an 11-5 decision and Sauk Valley’s Leland Cunniff with a second-round fall. Xander Gonzales took second in the Bantam 609 Division with a 1-1 record, earning a 4-2 decision against Dixon’s James Hooker. Nehemiah Andronic took second in the Intermediate 510 Division with a 2-1 record, earning a 8-2 decision against River Bend’s Elijah Hoffman in the first round before notching a 9-0 major decision against NWO’s Roman Spinelli in the second round.

Tate Bigelow took second in the Intermediate 401 Division with a 2-1 record, notching a 7-2 decision over Xtreme Wrestling’s Lydia Oliver in the second round and a fall over River Bend’s Charles Monkman in the third round. Teddy Millard took second in the Novice 301 Division with a 1-1 record, scoring a 7-4 decision over Sauk Valley’s Braylyn Shirley in the first round.

Garrett Miller took second in the Novice 205 Division with a 2-1 record, securing a fall over Dixon’s Leon Baker in the first round and an 8-5 decision over Harlem’s Blaine McDaniel Jr. in the third round. AJ Milan took second in the Senior 102 Division with a 2-1 record, scoring falls over Hawk Wrestling’s Emma Richards and DuPec’s Jackson Hopkins.

Jacksyn Windham took second in the Senior 111 Division with a 2-1 record, earning falls over Xtreme Wrestling ’s Riley Boyer and Stillman Valley Wrestling’s Braden Payne. Kolten Andersen finished third in the Tots 902 Division with a 1-2 record, notching a second-round fall over Rochelle’s Amos Andronic.

Corbin Gapski finished third in the Tots 903 Division with a 1-2 record, securing a third-round fall over Hawk Wrestling’s Knox Benesh. Wells Millard finished third in the Bantam 811 Division with a 1-2 record, notching an 11-0 major decision over Sauk Valley’s Sloane Gabler.

Connor Clark finished third in the Intermediate 411 Division with an 0-2 record, receiving a first-round bye. Andrew Eyster finished third in the Senior 109 Division with a 1-2 record, winning with a fall over Streator’s Logan Mueller in the third round.

Fourth-place finishers include Amos Andronic (Tots 902 Division), Stryker Mellor (Tots 905 Division), Cheyanne McBride (Bantam 702 Division), Huck Benner (Bantam 606 Division), Freddie McBride (Intermediate 503 Division), Grant Rowley (Intermediate 405 Division), Cole Albers (Intermediate 406 Division), Paul Olszewski (Intermediate 410 Division), Landon Leigh (Novice 203 Division) and Jackson Olszewski (Novice 209 Division).

Caroline McBride (Tots 901 Division) finished fifth.
