SPRINGFIELD — Two Rochelle Wrestling Club athletes dueled in the 2024 Jon Davis Kids Open at the Bank of Springfield Center on Sunday afternoon.
Nehemiah Andronic took fifth in the Elite Intermediate 69 Division with a 2-2 record. Andronic's first two matches included a loss by fall to Urbana's Darrius Platt Jr. and a 10-0 major decision against Saber Wrestling's Mason Poll. Andronic earned his revenge against Platt Jr. in the fifth-place match, winning by 10-0 major decision after a tough 4-4 ultimate tiebreaker loss to Lion's Den's Scott Kilmer in the consolation round.
Elias Andronic finished third in the Open Bantam 144 Division with a 1-1 record. Andronic faced Storm Youth Wrestling's Pedro Rangel in the semifinals, conceding a 5-0 decision before scoring a 16-0 technical fall over Tinley Park's Colton Raddatz in the third-place match.
