HARVARD — The Rochelle Hub varsity wrestling team had few issues during its nonconference dual match against Harvard on Wednesday. The Hubs secured their 20th dual win of the year, with nine individuals emerging victorious as Rochelle struck down the Hornets 49-25. The Hubs (20-6, 4-0 Interstate 8) will host Kaneland on Thursday night with an Interstate 8 title on the line.

Junior Kaiden Morris scored the first points of the dual match, recording a 7-1 decision over Joel Ramirez to win the 285-pound bout. Sophomore Freddie Hernandez received a forfeit for the 106-pound bout to put the Hubs ahead 9-0 before Harvard’s Reymundo Romo secured a 7-2 decision against sophomore Keagan Albers in the 113-pound bout. Senior Tommy Tourdot’s second-period fall over Owen Vail in the 120-pound bout gave Rochelle a 15-3 advantage.

Junior Xavier Villalobos notched a first-period takedown and fall over Brennan Peters in the 126-pound bout and sophomore Deegan Schabacker followed with a first-period takedown and fall over Mauricio Flores in the 132-pound bout. Freshman Josh Lassiter compiled three near falls and two takedowns during his 13-0 major decision over Wyatt Stott in the 138-pound bout.

Harvard claimed the next two matches, with Logan Nulle earning a second-period fall over freshman Angel Hernandez in the 144-pound bout and Daniel Rosas scoring a 10-2 major decision over sophomore Brenden Voight in the 150-pound bout. Freshman Alex Pellicer took a forfeit for the 157-pound bout and junior Grant Gensler recorded a first-period fall against Charly Tolentino in the 165-pound bout, allowing Rochelle to take a 43-13 lead in the dual match.

Harvard’s Blake Livdahl took the 175-pound bout with a third-period fall over sophomore Roman Villalobos. Senior Brock Metzger earned Rochelle’s final win of the dual match, securing a second-period fall over Edgar Hernandez in the 190-pound bout. Harvard’s Bryan Hernandez concluded the dual with a first-period fall over senior Frank Decena in the 215-pound bout.
