On Tuesday, the statue of the soldier overlooking the War Memorial was installed on the pedestal at Lawnridge Cemetery facing the engraved bricks of the veterans honored at the memorial. The Rochelle Veterans War Memorial Association plans to meet and discuss options for a dedication ceremony, most likely to be held around Veterans Day. This is the very first piece of bronze art to be placed in Rochelle.
The piece, shown, was sculpted by Fran Volz.
