ROCHELLE — The El Senor de Los Tacos restaurant in Rochelle is hosting a fundraiser for the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee on Monday, March 5 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A percentage of the evening’s profits will benefit the BPAC events and activities.
Idalia Marin, Bilingual Coordinator for Rochelle Middle School, explained the district’s committee is made up of community members and bilingual parents of children enrolled in ESL or bilingual programs. The committee has been involved for over 10 years.
The organization works to inform parents about the policies, laws, and regulations in the state that guide the ESL and bilingual programs, as well as provide a place for parents to voice their concerns, questions, or express their points of view.
Marin explained BPAC, which is comprised of four parent members and three supporting teachers, also assesses programs and needs of the community, gets parents involved, and helps to communicate with school officials.
