ROCHELLE — Due to safety reasons, residents are being advised to use the crosswalk on the outer edges of the curve located at Jones Road and Ninth Street near Helms Park.
Earlier this week, Rochelle City officials announced they have received complaints of people not using the designated crosswalks. When drivers approach the curve, it can be difficult to see pedestrians if they are crossing at the curve.
In the picture, the “X” indicates where the crosswalk previously was positioned. The city is asking everyone to please cross safely on either ends of the curve to access the fields and parking areas (indicated with circles). Drivers are also asked to proceed with caution and drive slowly due to the amount of people in the area — especially in the evenings.
