ROCHELLE — Make plans to begin Cinco de Mayo celebrations with a walk or run in the fresh air, all the while helping to support a local organization.
Join HOPE of Ogle County, LULAC, and the City of Rochelle to move for a great cause on Saturday, May 5 at 1 p.m. for the 4th annual CincoK 5K Run/Walk. Starting point for the 5K run/walk is at the Four Sisters bike Path off Parkview Drive by the First Presbyterian Church.
Check-in starts at 12 p.m., 5K at 1 p.m.
All proceeds go to the local domestic violence agency and shelter that serve Ogle and Lee counties. HOPE of Ogle County provided shelter, counseling services, court advocacy, Latina advocacy, and transitional housing to 492 adults and children last year.
Ruth Carter, Executive Director at HOPE of Ogle County, said the website allows for individuals as well as teams to register, giving businesses a chance to develop teams.
“We are thrilled to kick off Cinco de Mayo festivities and move for a great cause at our 4th annual CincoK 5K run/walk, in collaboration with LULAC and the City of Rochelle,” Carter said. “Last year's CincoK had a wonderful turnout and the weather has been perfect for us. CincoK is a fun time for adults and children of all ages. We hope to have even more community members, walkers, joggers, and runners join us this year.”
