ROCHELLE — Lincoln Elementary School marked the 100th day of school Tuesday and it was quite the sight.
School nurse Michele Gittleson explained this year the students were asked to dress how they would look in 100 years.
“We had old people running around Lincoln hallways yesterday. Some of the kids borrowed their great-grandparents things…we had little old men and ladies walking through the halls with canes, curlers, shawls, beards, white mustaches,” Gittleson chuckled. “They really got into it.”
Every year the staff also participates. Gittleson said the teachers decided they would be nurses in the geriatric unit, donning scrubs and attire to play the part — caregivers of the old folks.
