Chamber preparing for golf play day

ROCHELLE – As phase 4 of Illinois’s plan to reopen has lifted many restrictions, the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce has announced it will be hosting its annual City of Rochelle/RMU Chamber Golf Play Day.

This will be the 50th annual golf play day and it will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Fairways Golf Course in Rochelle. Registration for the event will begin at 10:30 a.m. Lunch provided by Salt 251 and sponsored by Central Bank will be served and golf will begin with a shotgun start at noon.

There will also be different sponsors with activities set up throughout the round as well as a 50/50 raffle and prize baskets that will be given away when golfing is finished. The theme for this year’s event is superhero, so the chamber is encouraging any sponsors or participants to dress up in their best attire.

“The chamber is very excited we are still getting to have our annual golf play day,” chamber president Tricia Herrera said. “I think that people are ready to get out and we are looking forward to a great day on the golf course.”

The cost to play in the outing is $340 per foursome and there are also multiple levels of sponsorships available to fit the budget of any business. To sign up a foursome or sponsor, contact the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce by phone at 815-562-4189, via email at rochellechamber@gmail.com or by stopping in the office between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

There are only a few foursome spots left and they are moving fast, so the chamber is encouraging people to sign up sooner than later. While the main goal of this event is to have a fun day out of the office, the outing also helps build connections between local businesses and chamber members.

“We always like to say that a log of business is done on the course that day,” Herrera said. “Despite the circumstances going on in the world today, we really think that this can be a great day for businesses, their employees and members of the chamber to work together.”
