ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Planning and Zoning Commission recommends approval of the Love’s Travel Stops preliminary and final plat of subdivision to the City Council.
The 4-0 vote came Monday evening.
Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores plans to build a 17-acre truck stop and convenience store, along with a Hardees Restaurant and Chester’s Chicken near I-88 and Steward Road on the city’s far south side.
City officials approved the first step in December.
“The meeting in December was to approve the annexation agreement to annex the property into the city of Rochelle along with the annexation plat, which allows the planning commission and the city council to take action on the preliminary and final plats,” said Sam Tesreau, City Engineer.
Tesreau said construction could begin as early as late April, with projected completion within six months.
Absent from Monday evening’s planning and zoning meeting were Commissioners Ryan Carlson, Vicki Snyder-Chura, and Joe Thiele.
