ROCHELLE — Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Judith) Stavrakas will celebrate their 60th anniversary on Friday, Jan. 12. Paul and the former Judith Ewald were married on Jan. 12, 1958 in Chicago at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
Paul and Judy were high school sweethearts who started dating in 1954 when Judy was a freshman and Paul was a junior at Rochelle Township High School.
They owned and operated the Rochelle Beacon from 1963 to 1983. At that time, they sold the restaurant and retired, splitting time between Rochelle and Marco Island, Fla.
Their fondest memories are the 30 years they spent hosting family and friends on Marco Island.
Paul and Judy have three children, Scott (Rose) Stavrakas of Oglesby, Dawn (Joe) Peters of Rochelle, and Lisa (Bill) Souba of Bozeman, Mont. They have five grandchildren, Brad (Jennifer) Peters of Rochester, Minn., Zachary Peters of Waco, Texas, Marcus Peters of Pingree Grove, Paul (Hilary) Stavrakas of Aurora, Colo., and Bethany Stavrakas of Manteno. They have two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Bennett Peters of Rochester, Minn.
