CRESTON — Creston trustees approved a resolution waiving building permit fees amounting $15,000 or greater for residential construction or remodeling. The resolution, which was approved during the April village board meeting, will run through Feb. 28, 2022.

Trustees tabled two items for the May meeting including the annexation and rezoning of land for the Creston-Dement Public Library as well as the appointment of a new board member. Former trustee Mike Misch resigned this past month, creating an open position on the Creston board. Construction on the $2.5 million Creston-Dement Public Library will begin later this year.

Board President Wayne Williams said the village will once again disperse tipping fees from the local landfill to five groups including the Creston-Dement Public Library, the Creston School District, the Dement Park District, the Creston Fire Department and Dement Township. Williams said the village will disperse $15,000 in fees, with each group receiving $3,000.
