ROCHELLE — Rochelle City Council approved a series of easements in different projects throughout the city.
Council approved the Kennay Farms Distillery Rickhouse easement agreement for the overhead piping. The agreement is to cover the air rights for the installation, construction and maintenance of the overhead piping on the west side of the building located at 416 Lincoln Highway. This will allow for the manufactured product to flow from the distillery to the rickhouse for bottling and storage.
The agreement includes a 14-foot clearance for traffic and the piping to be enclosed in casing with shutoff valves on both ends.
Council approved a resolution for the electric utility easement south of Ritchie and Mulford Roads for $25,000.
Three right of way and/or easements were also approved for the South Main Street reconstruction and expansion project; the first three of over 20 that are needed. The project is set to start in April or May of 2019.
Council approved the ordinance amending the municipal code to create one T liquor license for truck stops. This class allows for alcoholic liquor to be sold at truck stops in the original package only. No consumption is allowed on the premises.

City manager Jeff Fiegenschuh acknowledged city employees Sam Tesreau and Michelle Pease for their work with the Kennay Farms project.
“There were some issues with the gas company and the installation and removal of their utilities to and on the site,” Fiegenschuh explained. “Both Michelle and Sam worked with Nicor and the state to keep the project moving forward and Michelle hosted two meetings between Nicor and the Kennays. She advocated the importance of their project and the issues caused by delays.”
Fiegenschuh presented both with a certificate to publicly recognize their work.
“I think it’s very important to recognize our employees for all the hard work they put in to make our community grow,” Fiegenschuh added. “The Good News Award is just one way I can say thank you publicly to members of our team for their commitment to their jobs and our community.
