A stolen van from Rochelle Thursday evening was involved in a fatal accident on I-39 south of Rochelle.
Illinois State Police were notified at 5:07 p.m. of a crash on I-39 near Shabbona involving a single vehicle.
Joseph L. Clark, 23, of Chicago, was traveling southbound on I-39 when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times. Clark was ejected from the vehicle.
He was transported by Shabbona Community Ambulance Service to Rochelle Community Hospital and pronounced dead.
Rochelle police received a call at 5:25 p.m. that a 2005 Nissan van had been stolen from the 800 block of N. Seventh St.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office, Illinois Conservation Police and the Shabbona Fire Department assisted Illinois State Police at the scene.
