Hospital implements new security measures

ROCHELLE —Rochelle Community Hospital is upgrading security measures, including renewed focus on enforcing visiting hours, starting July 1.
“With the many changes at our facility over the last year and the increase in disruptive behavior and security events nationwide, we have reviewed and upgraded our safety policies to better protect patients, visitors and staff. Safety is a top priority,” said Mark Batty, Chief Executive Officer.
Visitors
Visitors will not be allowed to access the medical/surgical floor after 8:30 p.m. unless approved by the medical/surgical unit and they will be escorted to the floor.  Any visitor requesting access after 8:30 p.m. must enter at the Third Street, the hospital’s west entrance, and will need to be granted entry.

All departments will be secured from 8:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. daily. Visitors are asked to comply with these announced visiting hours.  Enforcing the visiting hours will also help patients get the rest they need while they are recovering.
Intercoms have been added at the main entrances on Second and Third Streets. Video surveillance is being upgraded internally and the hospital will be adding additional outside security cameras around the facility.
All RCH staff receive annual training regarding hospital security policies and procedures.
