ROCHELLE — Rochelle Township High School Key Club members were busy crafting Monday afternoon.
The students put together Valentines to be delivered to area nursing home residents and they began a project that will benefit the Rochelle Homeless Shelter.
Instead of throwing away plastic bags, students are making plarn mats. Plarn is a yarn made from plastic grocery sacks that is then crocheted together to make mats. The mats can be used for sleeping or as a seat outside. They withstand wet weather and provide a cushion against cold, wet surfaces.
