Will seek Republican nomination for the new 14th Congressional district

SYCAMORE – Syndicated radio host and Rochelle resident Mike Koolidge announced his run for Congress Monday night at an event at the Regale Center in Sycamore, a press release said.

“As a veteran and small business owner, Koolidge has been on the front lines fighting for midwestern values his entire adult life—values he’s given a voice to for the past 14 years as a daily political talk-show host,” the release said.

Koolidge served as a captain in the US Army for six active duty years, including his final year as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom I in 2003. For the past 14 years, he has hosted The Michael Koolidge Show on the radio from Rochelle. Koolidge is a member of the NFIB Small Business Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He and his wife, Joan, have been married for 16 years and are active members of their Presbyterian Church in DeKalb.

“Koolidge’s passion for — and knowledge of — politics is obvious to listeners of his top-rated The Michael Koolidge Show,” the press release said, “The program has taken him everywhere from our nation’s southern border, to ride-alongs with local police departments to broadcasts from the White House in an effort to better understand the issues that impact American families.”
His personal experiences as a soldier, including earning two Joint Service Commendation Medals and a Joint Meritorious Unit Award for his service as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom I, have informed his understanding of foreign policy and America’s place in the world, the release said.
Koolidge will look to join the. U.S. House of Representatives and represent Illinois in the newly-redrawn 14th Congressional District.

“The road to retaking the House and firing Nancy Pelosi runs through this district,” the release said. “A strong conservative with traditional midwestern values, Koolidge will push back against the radical agenda of progressive Washington Democrats. He will reign in out-of-control government spending, keep families safe, and put everyday Americans back in charge of their own lives.”
