FRANKLIN GROVE — August 31st is a fifth Friday and that makes it part of a continuing tradition at the historic H.I. Lincoln Building in Franklin Grove.
The special feature for August’s Fifth Friday show will be Psychologist, journalist and musician Lowell Harp paired with Second breakfast, Tracy Fleck and Jim Vancko, two nuclear engineers who make fantastic music when they aren’t generating electricity.
Harp leads with guitar and vocals while Fleck is also a capable lead vocalist as well as a master of both guitar and mandolin. Vancko provides a solid base line on the upright bass along with back-up vocals and - with very little provocation, a steady stream of humor.
Their music covers a wide spectrum including folk, country, blues, bluegrass, and light rock. Their shows have something for everybody to love.
There will be one action packed show at 7 p.m. and seating is limited. Tickets are available for a $10 donation by calling the H.I. Lincoln building at 815-456-3030 daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays, or stop by the H.I. Lincoln building during the same hours. Tickets may be available at the door, but a sell-out is quite possible.
This is a chance for a fun time with some of the region’s great entertainers in one of Northern Illinois’ most historically significant buildings.
