SYCAMORE – Northwestern Medicine Physical Therapy is hosting its 10th annual 5K Run/Walk event on May 20 at 8 a.m. The event is intended to promote health and fitness for the local community. Although many participants will run, this event is intended for walkers as well, strollers are welcome but no pets are allowed. Proceeds will be donated to Adventure Works of DeKalb County, a non-profit, interactive counseling agency that serves youth ages 6-18 providing individual, family and group counseling through adventure.
The run/walk will start and end at Northwestern Medicine Physical Therapy, 2111 Midlands Court, Sycamore. The course is flat and follows city streets. Event day registration and packet pick-up will be available from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Registration closes at 7:45 a.m. and the run/walk begins promptly at 8 a.m. Pre-registered runners are guaranteed a race T-shirt. Event day registrants will receive a T-shirt, while supplies last. Refreshments will be served to all participants both pre- and post-race. Northwestern Medicine Physical Therapy staff will be available for post-event stretching and massage. Post-event stretching, food, music and water will be provided.
Registration fees are $20 for the general public, and $25 for event-day registrants. Awards are given to the overall male and female winners, plus the top three male and female runners in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. A number of raffle prizes will be also be given out. Registration is available by visiting www.kishpt5k.org to print the form or online at www.signmeup.com.
