BYRON — An Ohio man participating in an event at the Byron Dragway on Saturday, was pronounced dead on the scene following an accident at the race track.
At approximately 10:40 a.m. Saturday, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Byron Fire Department and the Byron Ambulance responded to an accident at the Byron Drag Strip, 7287 N. River Road.
According to a report from the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, a drag car participating in a sanctioned event at the drag strip was making a pass down the track. The drag car lost control after crossing the finish line, crossed over the track and struck the grass embankment. The drag car rolled over several times, ejecting the driver, Bradley G. Glass, 60, of Mason, Ohio, from the vehicle.
Glass was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ogle County coroner. The accident remains under investigation.
