Opening doors to the community

Posted

ROCHELLE — The First General Baptist Church is opening their doors to the community this Saturday, Sept. 29 for a Free Community Give Away from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Items available include clothing, shoes, kitchen items, furniture, games, home décor and toys.

Carolyn Overstreet, FGBC member and event organizer, said the idea behind the event is to meet the community and also as a way to give back. Anyone in the community can attend.

“We have been blessed beyond words. This is a great church, and a great church family,” Overstreet said. “If we can share God to a few people by giving an overabundance to a few people than that’s what we would like to do.”

Overstreet added that the majority of items will be in the Fellowship Hall located in the lower level of the church. Depending on the weather, some items might also be located outside.

Weather permitting, delivery will be available on Saturday for larger items and furniture.

First General Baptist Church is located at 500 South 12th Street in Rochelle.
