BELVIDERE — The Rochelle cross country team battled in the IHSA Class 2A Regional at Belvidere this past Saturday, with three Lady Hub runners qualifying for the IHSA Class 2A Sectional in Maple Park on Saturday, Oct. 28.
The Lady Hubs finished seventh overall out of nine schools, with junior Katherine Bakken placing seventh individually with a time of 19:29.3 to reach the sectional competition. Seniors Hannah Cruz and Claire Plapp also advanced to the sectional meet, with Cruz taking 26th with a time of 20:58.1 and Plapp clocking in at 21:09.2 to finish 31st out of 63 racers.
Sophomore Britney Baez placed 40th with a time of 21:37, while junior Anne Hickey (47th in 22:07.7) and senior Morgan Baker (49th in 22:27.4) recorded top-50 finishes for the Rochelle girls team. Senior Rhylie Erdman (53rd in 22:59.7) rounded out the Lady Hub runners on Saturday.
The Hubs finished 10th overall out of 10 schools behind sophomore Santi Cordoba, who placed 49th individually with a time of 19:24.6. Sophomore Tucker Louis took 50th with a time of 19:37.0, while sophomores Ben Hickey (55th in 20:41.1) and Evan Horner (62nd in 21:09.2) rounded out Rochelle’s top four boys in the regional meet.
