ROCHELLE — Founder’s Day is celebrated every Oct. 27 to commemorate the birthdate of the Founder of Mooseheart, James J. Davis.
It was also the date in 1906 when Davis joined the Loyal Order of Moose in Crawfordsville, Ind. Mooseheart is a 1,000-acre community near Batavia, Ill. that is home to 225 children from broken homes. The Mooseheart endeavor has been funded by the dues paid by the men and women of the Moose since 1913.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, the Rochelle Moose Family Center will be open to the public at 4 p.m. Food will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. and Bob “O” Fritsch will be the DJ starting at 6 p.m. A DJ contest starts at 8 p.m., open to community participation and contestants will be awarded prizes.
