OREGON — Six occupants of a Lost Nation home are dead following a house fire.
Early Tuesday morning Ogle County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 9-1-1 call from a resident at 204 North Miami Dr., in rural Dixon, for the report of smoke in the basement. When sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene the two-story home was fully engulfed.
Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle reported all six occupants of the residence were found dead. Late Tuesday afternoon, VanVickle released the names of the family members
Timothy Shaw, 39, Melissa Shaw, 37, Ethan Shaw, 17, LeAnne Shaw, 15, Hailey Shaw, 12, and Dylan Shaw, 11, all died from smoke inhalation, according to the Ogle County Coroner following autopsies performed Tuesday.
According to VanVickle, the Ogle County 911 Center received a call from Ethan Shaw stating he was trapped in his bedroom, which was located in the basement of the home and filling with smoke.
Eight fire departments also responded to the scene.
The initial investigation conducted by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal do not indicate any evidence of foul play; the investigation continues in order to determine a cause of the fire.
