ROCHELLE — City officials will begin a street project this summer after council approved a bid Monday night involving storm sewer and street improvements.
The bid from Porter Brothers Asphalt and Sealing, Inc. in the amount of $358,480.19 will involve the project on Second Avenue from 12th Street to 14th Street and along 12th Street south of Illinois Route 39 (Lincoln Avenue) to the BNSF tracks.
City engineer Sam Tesreau said the reconstruction and urbanization project was included in the city’s 2020 budget and is expected to be substantially complete by the end of July.
Along with the sidewalk, curb and gutter and proper drainage work, the area will also see new street lights.
