ROCHELLE — In preparation for Memorial Day, members of the Rochelle Girl Scout Troops 409 & 1168, Steward Girl Scout Troop 1870 and Boy Scout Troop 553, as well a troop leaders and parents assisted the Rochelle Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution in placing flags on all known veterans' graves at St. Patrick's and Trinity Cemeteries.
One hundred and sixty nine flags were placed at St. Patrick's and 128 at Trinity. The veterans' graves were identified by inscriptions, presence of a military plaque, shape and prior knowledge of a veteran's location.
The flags at Trinity will remain for a week until the next mowing. The goal is to be able to place the flags again at Trinity in the fall for Veteran's Day. The flags at St. Patrick's will remain in place for the summer or until damaged.
If your veteran was missed, please email VIS.DAR.Rochelle@gmail.com so they can be added to the lists in the future.
