ROCHELLE — Enjoy delicious eats while raising funds for a good cause. That’s the unofficial theme of the first Food Truck Festival, a fundraiser for the Rochelle Community Action Network (CAN). It will be held in the Municipal parking lot, at the corner of 4th Avenue and Main Street, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 29.
“Larger towns do this so we thought we’d give it a try,” said CAN Chairman Michelle Pease, adding that the board has been discussing this for some time. “I’m excited about having a new event in Rochelle. I’m hoping we get a good crowd.”
Pease said various food vendors will set up in the parking lot where people can pick up lunch and either take it with them as they go shopping or run other errands, or eat it there. Picnic tables will be set up in the parking lot. Pease said CAN is also trying to round up a local musician to provide a little entertainment.
So far, Ralfie’s BBQ and Tacos al Pastor No. 1 have confirmed spots while negotiations are going on to secure others. Pease is hoping to get at least a half dozen food vendors.
