Flagg Township Museum's cemetery walk is Sept. 30

ROCHELLE – The Flagg Township Museum will host a cemetery walk on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. both virtually and at the museum.

Sally Sawicki has compiled many stories of Rochelle residents who are no longer with us and will be presenting a PowerPoint program in the museum. Visitors are welcome to attend at the museum or from home via Zoom.

Included in the cemetery “walk” are people you may or may not remember, people like Charnock, Macginnis, McHenry, Musselman and many more. Some contributed much to the history of Rochelle, others were here only a short time. The “walk” is an opportunity to remind everyone that all were important to their families and were influential in one way or another to our community.

Watch for more information about these upcoming museum events: a hobo event at the Ken Wise Rochelle Railroad Park in October and in November a special event focusing on the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Contact the museum to find out more about how you can participate in the Decorate the Museum event on Saturday, Nov. 27. Individuals and groups are encouraged to sign up to decorate a tree for the holidays.

The decorated trees will be on display throughout the museum until the end of the year, so start thinking of an idea and gathering your supplies to be a part of this display. And don’t forget Santa at the Museum, Friday, Dec. 3 from 4-6 p.m.

The mission of the Flagg Township Historical Society and Museum is to stimulate interest in Flagg Township history through education, research, collection and preservation of information for the benefit of the public of today and in the future.
