LASALLE — The Rochelle Hub fresh-soph football team scored five touchdowns during its 36-12 win over LaSalle-Peru on Friday evening. It's the first conference victory of the season for the Hubs (4-1, 1-0 Interstate 8), whose next fresh-soph game will be at Ottawa on Friday, Oct. 18.
Sophomore Brody Bruns finished with seven tackles, including two tackles for loss, while freshman Sebastian Albertson collected two sacks to lead the defense. Freshman Elijah Schweitzer added five tackles and one tackle for loss in the win over the Cavaliers.
Rochelle led 16-0 after a 5-yard touchdown run from freshman Andrew Eyster and a 6-yard touchdown run from sophomore Tyler Gensler. Later in the game, Rochelle scored on a trick play, with sophomore Keegan Cathina taking a pitch and firing a pass to sophomore Warren Schweitzer for a 60-yard touchdown.
The Hubs sealed their win with a 1-yard touchdown run from sophomore Angel Argueta and a 55-yard touchdown run from freshman Luke Chadwick.
