ROCHELLE — For nearly 40 years, Jerry Seebach has been selling sweet corn from his back yard and the tradition continues until, hopefully, the end of this month.
“Hopefully we will have corn until the end of August,” he said.
Seebach began planting the almost 3-acres of corn with a two-row planter he received from Norm Skare and he did the work by hand.

This year, Seebach’s son, Jeff, did the planting and much of the work as Jerry has not been able to do it himself this season.
“Jeff planted this year, sprayed and he picks early in the morning before he goes to work,” Jerry said. “The neighbor boy, Andy, has helped a lot too, and we have had a lot of friends who have helped too.”
Seebach sells all bi-color sweet corn for $5 per dozen along with other garden vegetables such as zucchini, squash and cucumbers.
“I’ve had a lot of good experiences over the years,” Seebach said.
Seebach’s sweet corn is available at his farm, located at the corner of Kyte and Center Road in Rochelle.
