MALTA — Kayte Hamel, executive director of marketing and public relations, has been named Executive Director of College Relations.
As part of her new position, she will also serve as Executive Director of Kishwaukee College Foundation. She has worked for the college since 2007.
“We are very excited to have Kayte as our new foundation director. She has been a valued employee at Kishwaukee College and has been an integral part of the foundation serving in various capacities,” said Jamie Craven, president of the foundation’s board of directors and superintendent of DeKalb School District 428.
The Kishwaukee College Foundation is the philanthropic branch of the college and plays an integral role in supporting the college’s mission to improve lives through quality, affordable education. Through the gifts of donors, contributions are used to ensure community members, regardless of circumstances, have access to educational opportunities.
“I am very excited to be in this capacity,” Hamel said. “Being able to continue to help fundraise and support a college that gave me a solid foundation for my education is deeply fulfilling.”
In her new role, Hamel will provide strategic leadership for the foundation, seek new and innovative ways to support foundation and college initiatives, and work alongside the college president and board of directors to secure funding and support. Fundraising, scholarship development, annual campaigns, alumni development, and special events are among the long term Foundation goals Hamel will help progress.
“Kayte is a Kishwaukee College alumni and has a personal appreciation for the quality experience that students receive at Kish. Her professional background both at Kishwaukee College and in the Sycamore/DeKalb communities will greatly benefit the foundation and our goals,” Craven added.
