ROCHELLE – Workers removed the electronic sign at Hickory Grove on Wednesday.

The Rochelle City Council unanimously approved the sale of surplus personal property owned by the city related to Hickory Grove, including the sign, at its last meeting. The facility is planned to be demolished this fall. 

The proceeds from the sign will be used to offset the costs of the acquisition and demolition of the Hickory Grove facility.

The city plans to plat an easement for a future community sign to be located in that area.
