“As an essential business, HOPE staff had to re-imagine ways to continue delivering services to the community while also practicing social distancing. When the reality hit of possibly having to cancel our own annual fundraiser, we couldn’t wrap our heads around missing out on an event so close to our hearts. HOPE hosting virtual CincoK

ROCHELLE — In the face of this unprecedented health crisis, many are having to readjust to a new, temporary normal.

“As an essential business, HOPE staff had to re-imagine ways to continue delivering services to the community while also practicing social distancing. When the reality hit of possibly having to cancel our own annual fundraiser, we couldn’t wrap our heads around missing out on an event so close to our hearts. How could we save our CincoK?,” executive director Ruth Carter said.

This year’s CincoK will be held, just in a new format. HOPE will be hosting the 5K this year as a virtual 5K.

There are two ways to walk, jog or run for the cause:

Join in through Zoom and virtually complete the CincoK with family, friends and others in the community at noon on Tuesday, May 5 (Cinco de Mayo) or complete the CincoK at any time and anywhere you choose between Saturday, May 2 through Saturday, May 9.

Register online at https://www.raceentry.com/cinco-k/race-information. Registration is $10 per person.

Following completion of the CincoK, HOPE will mail participants a certificate of participation and token of recognition.

Anyone can make a donation. Donations of any size can be made through the race entry page or the HOPE of Ogle County website at https://hopedv.org.

For anyone wishing to complete the race through Zoom on May 5, that information will e-mailed upon registration.
