OREGON — The Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department will be conducting its monthly residential electronics drop-off event on Friday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the County Annex Building at 909 Pines Road in Oregon.
These events are for Ogle County generated residential electronic items. As of 2019 the Consumer Electronics Recycling Act mandates that each county in Illinois have an outlet for certain residential electronic items based on that county’s population. The OCSWMD drop-off events satisfy CERA for Ogle County. Identification is asked for at the event and there is a limit of seven bulky items (televisions, computers, monitors, printers) per vehicle. A tub or crate loaded with smaller electronic items is considered one bulky item.
Acceptable items
Electronic waste accepted at this event include all televisions, computers, computer monitors, computer hardware and cables, printers, FAX machines, copiers, VCR/ DVD players, cable and satellite boxes, radios, digital clocks, boom boxes, stereo equipment, video game equipment, laptops, tablets, cell phones, phone systems, calculators, rechargeable batteries, holiday light strands, extension cords, CFL bulbs, and printer cartridges. Microwave ovens are accepted for a charge of $5 each. Please unpack your electronics from boxes, Styrofoam, and plastic wrap prior to coming to the event and dispose of or recycle as normal.
