ROCHELLE — Lion Jim Kloepping, past zone chair and past district governor inducted new Lion Members Rich and Kathy Cogswell on July 22.
The Lion Clubs International began as the dream of Chicago insurance man Melvin Jones in 1917. He believed that local business clubs should expand their horizons from purely professional concerns to their communities and the world at large.
Since that humble beginning, Lions club members have volunteered their time and talents to meet needs wherever they exist. Lions are especially dedicated to serving the blind and visually impaired, a commitment made after Helen Keller challenged our members to become her “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.
Our motto, “We Serve” exemplifies the dedication to helping those in need worldwide. The Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service organization; a group of over 1.4 million men and women in over 48,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas around the globe.
