Rochelle Municipal Band presenting summer concerts

Posted

ROCHELLE — The City of Rochelle has given the go ahead to the Rochelle Municipal Band to once again present their summer concert season. Necessary precautions will be taken to help insure the safety of the musicians and audiences.

All concerts will be held at the Atwood Park band shell at the corner of 10th Avenue and 20th Street. Each concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and lasts approximately one hour.

The band members will be exercising the six-foot minimum distance between members.  At this time, all concert goers are encouraged to maintain a six-foot distance between each other as well.

The first concert will be June 16. The band will also look forward to once again performing the popular July 4 concert which will begin at 8 p.m.  The band plays on an every other week and on the off weeks there are special concerts planned that include groups that have performed in the past.

The Concert Schedule is as follows: the Rochelle Municipal Band on June 16, the Bluegrass Reunion Band on June 23, the municipal band and fireworks on July 4, the Backroads Trio on July 7, the municipal band on July 14, the Footstompers on July 21 and the municipal band on July 30.

The Rochelle Municipal Band is open to any instrumentalists in the Rochelle area. Feel free to email Ron Duval, director at rochmunibnd@gmail.com  It is important to make this contact as arrangements will be made so that the number of chairs, stands, and music will be made accordingly.

The band’s first rehearsal is on Tuesday, June 8 at 7 p.m.  All rehearsals and concerts will be at the band shell.

Unfortunately if there is inclement weather for either the rehearsal or concert there will be no concert for that week.

All members of the band are truly excited to play once again for the community.  As always the band’s repertoire includes concert band classics as well as well as well-known musicals and music of motion pictures.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy nights of live concert music at the Atwood Park Band Shell.
