Rochelle wins regional title

ROCHELLE — The past weekend the Rochelle Township High School speech team competed in the IHSA Regional Competition.  
As a team, Rochelle walked away as the regional champions.
Individuals who are moving on to sectionals include:
Faith Worthington, regional champion, Informative Speaking
Faith Worthington, regional champion, Impromptu Speaking
Megan Thiravong, regional champion, Extemporaneous Speaking
Ariel Zuercher/Jenn Heinrich, regional champions, Dramatic Duet Acting

Paul Swartz/Mikayla Preston, regional champions, Humorous Duet Acting
Morgan Haas, regional champion, Oratorical Declamation
Ava Coglianese, regional champion, Special Occasion Speaking
Layla Pelan, regional champion, Prose Reading
Mikayla Preston, second place, Dramatic Interpretation
Megan Thiravong, second place, Radio Speaking
Morgan Haas, second place, Oratory
Ava Coglianese, third place, Original Comedy
Paul Swartz, third place, Humorous Interpretation
Ariel Zuercher, third place, Poetry Reading
The Performance in the Round competitors were the regional champions for that event. The PIR cast included Mateo Hughes, Heidi Cruz, Bella Nauman, Jaela Ludwick and Jessica Nguyen.
The team will be competing in the sectional tournament next week, hosted by Freeport High School.
