ROCHELLE — Rochelle Township High School’s speech team competed in the IHSA Sectional Speech Tournament on Feb. 10. As a team, Rochelle placed third out of the 32 teams that were in the sectional.
Five events are advancing to the state meet in Peoria. Those advancing include: Karma Lidren, Sectional Champion, Humorous Interpretation; Z Brizuela, Sectional Champion, Original Oratory; Aiden Ramsey, Sectional Champion, Radio Speaking; Brooklyn Hull/Vi Hull, second place, Dramatic Duet Acting; and Vi Hull, third place, Prose Reading.
Other finalists included: Karma Lidren, fourth place, Original Comedy; and Jessica Nguyen, fifth place, informative speaking.
The Performance in the Round cast earned fourth place, just short of making it to the state tournament. The Performance in the Round cast included: Derek Swartz, Lydia Von Haden, Pigeon Burgholzer, Lucas Smardo, Connor Macklin, Wyatt Brandt, Jenna Tesinsky, Isabella Biggs and Alex Soto.
