OREGON — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office issued 204 citations including six arrests for alcohol-related violations during the Fourth of July “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

Citations were issued for numerous traffic offenses including: two arrests for driving under the influence, four citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, 15 arrests for driving while license suspended/no valid driver’s license, two citations for no seat belt, two citations for using an electronic communication device while driving, 16 citations for uninsured drivers, three arrests for cannabis violations in a vehicle and 119 citations for speeding.

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with more than 200 other local law enforcement agencies from June 17 through July 5 to get drunk and drugged drivers off county roads and encourage seat belt use.

The effort featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including a media campaign.

The enforcement period was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” programs.
