Supports Congressman Kinzinger

Posted

Dear Editor,

The year 2018 has been a great year for the community of Byron. I’m proud to have raised my family in Ogle County and serve as 9-1-1 coordinator and communications supervisor for the local law enforcement.

As a community and a nation, we’ve all watched as the tears in our public opinion have widened. Even with all of the noise that is politics these days, I still remain optimistic. I read, I keep up with local and state news, and have developed a wonderful working relationship with our congressman, Adam Kinzinger. In light of my optimism for our county, our state and our country, I I’d like to share some non-political good news from our local congressman, Adam Kinzinger.

Believe it or not, Adam Kinzinger has our back. Earlier this month, President Trump ordered the department of energy secretary to stop the closure of several of America’s power plants. Many of us know that once the plant stops producing energy, it’s done forever. Even more important, the members of the surrounding communities lose what typically becomes their main source of jobs and economic well-being.

Needless to say, if this were to happen to us in Ogle County, our community would suffer greatly as a consequence.

Our congressman was on top of it. He released a statement in strong support of the decision, even noting the importance of nuclear power for our country’s national security. I met with him a few weeks ago and he even told me that he had a bill in Congress that seeks to ensure longevity for the continuance of nuclear plants, such as Byron’s.

This is just one example of how Congressman Adam Kinzinger has stood up for us. Politics is noisy but join me in seeing and knowing that there are some good actors out there.

Please cast your vote in November for Congressman Kinzinger.

Sandy Beitel
