STERLING — The Rochelle Hub varsity soccer team faced Sterling on the road Thursday, falling 5-1 and dropping to 3-3 on the season. Sophomore Diego Salazar scored the team's lone goal, while junior Diego Cincire recorded four saves in net. The Hubs will host Morris on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Sterling outshot Rochelle 21-11 and bested the Hubs 17-4 in shots on goal. The Golden Warriors opened the match with a goal during the 17th minute before Rochelle evened the match on Salazar's score in the 26th minute. Sterling dominated the second half, however, scoring in the 44th and 48th minutes to take a 3-1 lead before sealing the win with goals in the 63rd and 76th minutes.
