FREEPORT — The Hubs cross country team hasn’t collected much hardware this season, but the boys brought home a trophy and two medals after placing second out of 14 schools at the fresh-soph level in the Freeport Invitational this past Saturday.
Rochelle totaled 65 points to beat out Rockford East for second overall, with sophomores Santi Cordoba and Uzziel Zarate each medaling with respective times of 17:36.9 and 17:41.2. Cordoba finished 10th out of 72 fresh-soph boys, while Zarate placed 11th.
Sophomore Tucker Louis finished 18th with a time of 18:18.9 to help lead the Hubs cross country team on Saturday, while sophomores Diego Escobar (23rd in 18:31.8) and Ben Hickey (26th in 18:48.0) each recorded top-30 placings.
Sophomore Isaac Ochoa placed 65th with a time of 22:42.0 to round out the Rochelle squad on Saturday. The Hubs will return to action for the Sterling Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 7 before competing in the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference Meet on Saturday, Oct. 14.
