ROCHELLE — The Lady Hubs varsity tennis team faced its last Northern Illinois Big 12 West opponent on Tuesday, with Rochelle falling to the Geneseo Maple Leafs by a score of 5-0.
Senior Alex Nava fell to Geneseo’s Bryann Brophy at No. 1 singles (1-6, 0-6), while senior Jasmin Galvan dropped two sets to Emma Dunker in No. 2 singles (0-6, 2-6). Seniors Marissa Belmonte and Raquel Montelongo lost a tough No. 1 doubles match to Madi Miller and Jane Thomas, 0-6, 0-6.
Geneseo’s Mary Thomas and Gracie Strohm took down Rochelle seniors Lillian Fulgencio and Anahi Calderon in No. 2 doubles (6-2, 6-1), with Lady Hub junior Lila Roush and sophomore Kate Monfils falling to Kaitlyn Webster and Ava Bieneman in No. 3 doubles (1-6, 0-6). Rochelle will host its annual Lady Hub Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 23.
