YORKVILLE — After suffering a tight loss to the Ottawa Pirates at home this past Friday, the Hubs sophomore basketball team played another close one Tuesday night against the Yorkville Foxes, with the purple and white falling just short by a score of 56-51.
Johnny Beck scored 20 points to lead Rochelle, while freshman Austin Brown added 15 points including the Hubs’ only 3-pointer in the fourth quarter. Noah Knight chipped in seven points in the game, with Kaleb Ackland and freshman Seth Gould combining for nine points.
“We had the least for most of the game but with a couple of minutes left we had some big turnovers that really cost us,” head coach Josh Johnson said. “I thought Austin played a really good game but we just couldn’t get the ball into Johnny at the end to score.”
The loss bumps Rochelle down to 11-7 on the season, and the boys will resume conference play when they travel to Sterling on Saturday to face the Golden Warriors.
