On Thursday, the Rochelle Township High School Career Fair and Public Hiring Expo was held at RTHS. The event featured 35 local employers including industry, commercial, retail, banks and credit unions, healthcare, daycare, service organizations, national brands, and small businesses.

The Rochelle Rotary Club recently presented its first-ever Rochelle Rotary Service Above Self: Student of the Month award to Julia Livingston of Rochelle Township High School.

On March 11 at 3:13 a.m. Vincent P. Kuczynski, 24, of Rochelle was cited for speeding. He signed a promise to comply and was given an April 5 Rochelle court date.

On March 8 at approximately 2:21 p.m. deputies arrested Harley Beck, 22, of Mendota when she turned herself into the Ogle County Jail. She was arrested an outstanding warrant for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Beck will return to court on April 5 at 9 a.m.

Marilyn Ann Bonneau, 96, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Manor Court in Rochelle, Illinois. 

Jeni Hardin of Creston served in the United States Army from 1999-2001. Her service included being stationed in Germany and Kosovo. 

The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub track and field teams competed at the Byron Indoor Preview on Saturday.

The Rochelle Middle School Math Team brought home the first place trophy from the Sauk Valley Regional MathCounts competition on Saturday, Feb. 24. 

The Rochelle Wrestling Club sent two athletes to the 2024 IKWF Senior/Novice State Championships at the BMO Center in Rockford over the weekend.

Coaches John and Kristi Gonzales will host a free softball clinic for third-graders through seventh-graders at the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District REC Center this coming week.

The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity soccer team returned to the field earlier this week for the start of the 2024 season.

At its monthly meeting Tuesday, the Creston Village Board of Trustees heard an introduction from the new owner of the Creston Commons subdivision, Tim Hayden of Hayden Real Estate.

On March 5, State Rep. Bradley Fritts (R-Dixon) welcomed Haley Brill and Sam Setchell to the Emerging Women Leaders Event in Springfield. The event consisted of a brunch, listening session, and informational seminars from other women in leadership roles.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to City of Rochelle for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended Dec. 31.

On March 5 at 10:06 a.m. Tony T. Parker, 38, of Rock Island was arrested for driving while license suspended. He was released on a notice to appear with an April 5 Rochelle court date.

On March 5 at approximately 8:43 a.m. Sadiki Raymond, 35, of Rockford turned himself on an outstanding Ogle County failure to appear warrant. Raymond appeared in court and was released. Raymond will return to court on March 27.

Zekelman Industries recently continued annual support of the Rochelle Area Community Foundation (RACF) with a generous donation of $10,000 directed towards building the RACF Endowment Fund.

Kathryn B. Rankin, 93,of Lititz, PA and formerly of Frederick MD and Pequannock Twp, NJ, passed away on March 6, 2024.

Sonja Gunhild Alvina Johnson Twombly passed away February 19, 2024. 

Virgilia De La Torre De Cabrera Perez, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 8, 2024.

We have known Chad Horner for many years and want to voice our support for him as the next Ogle County coroner.
