CLINTON, Wis. — Carolyn Mae (Kruger) Wetzel, 90, of Clinton, Wisconsin, Azura Memory Care, formerly of Ashton, Illinois, passed away on June 21, 2024.  Carolyn was born on June 1,1934 to Carl and Ethel (Rasmussen) Kruger in Flagg Center, IL.  On December 1, 1973, she married Wayne Wetzel.  He preceded her in death in 2015.  Together they lived and farmed in Ashton for all of their married life together.

Carolyn’s first love was farming but she also was a CNA for 18 years at Franklin Grove Living and Rehab Nursing Home, caring and bringing joy to many residents there. Together with Wayne, she loved traveling with the Cattlemen’s Association to many farms and cities in the U.S.  Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was the thing that brought her the most joy. She also loved playing Euchre, bingo and many card games with friends and family, as well as doing ceramics and crafts.  Carolyn was a wonderful piano player and enjoyed playing for grandchildren at reunions and holidays.

In addition to her husband and parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Kruger; sister, Beverly McKnight; daughter, Sue Ellen (Blue) Schandelmeier and her husband, John; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Lynette (Duane) Alcock of Monroe Center, IL, Terry (Vicki) Blue of Clinton, WI, Gary (Sally) Blue of Milton, WI and Wesley (Lisa) Blue of Beloit, WI. Carolyn was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, along with sisters-in-law: Kathy Kruger and Betty Davis and many nieces, nephews and friends.
