Deputies investigate four vehicle crash

On Feb. 5 at 12:43 p.m., the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Forreston Fire Department, Forreston Ambulance, Polo Fire Department and the Polo Ambulance responded to a four car accident with unknown injuries on Illinois Route 26 at Haldane Road.
A white Ford Econoline van was northbound on Illinois Route 26 when it lost control on the snow covered roadway. The Ford Econoline van crossed over the roadway striking a white Chevrolet Malibu head on that was southbound on Route 26. A black Jeep Patriot and silver Toyota Camry were southbound on Route 26 following the white Chevrolet Malibu. The Jeep turned into the west side ditch to avoid hitting the Malibu and Econoline van. The Camry turned towards the west side ditch striking the Jeep after experiencing white out conditions.
The driver of the Econoline van, Eddie J. Mathews, 62, of Oregon, Wisconsin, refused medical treatment. The driver of the Malibu, Micah D. Coffman, 21, of Sycamore, refused medical treatment. The driver of the Jeep, Elizabeth M. Strock, 22, of Sterling, refused medical treatment, and the driver of the Toyota, Seth M. Nelson, 19, of Forreston, also refused medical treatment.
