ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Lady Hub varsity tennis team faced a tough Dixon squad at home Monday evening, falling 5-0 in nonconference action. Rochelle (2-6, 1-1 Interstate 8) will return to the court with a conference road match against the Morris Redskins on Tuesday evening.
Seniors Yaretzi Villalobos and Kendyl Darby were each shut out in singles play. Villalobos fell 0-6, 0-6 against Grace Ferguson at the No. 1 singles court and Darby fell 0-6, 0-6 against Addison Arjes at the No. 2 singles court. Rochelle’s closest doubles match came at the No. 2 court, where seniors Abby Metzger and Lauren Dyer nearly extended the match to a third set before coming just short in a 3-6, 5-7 defeat against Arielle Tefiku and Jenna Mustapha.
Seniors Natalie Wagner and Sydney Carmichael took five games in their 2-6, 3-6 loss against Lily Herrera and Joely Ortgieson at No. 3 doubles. Seniors Catherine Williams and Erin Murphy claimed one game in a 1-6, 0-6 loss to Brooklyn Arjes and Rachel Lance at No. 1 doubles.
