Oregon boys soccer team shuts out Dixon
The Oregon High School varsity boys soccer team won 1-0 over Dixon on Wednesday, Sept. 11 behind a goal from Steven Guardado and an assist from Danny Chisamore. The Hawks are now 3-4-2 overall and 2-2 in the Big Northern Conference.
Oregon volleyball team defeats Sterling Newman
The Oregon High School varsity volleyball team scored a 25-11, 25-16 win over Sterling Newman on Thursday, Sept. 12. Anna Stender recorded 11 assists, eight digs and one ace, while Skylar Bishop added four kills and three blocks. Grace Tremble compiled four kills and four digs for the Hawks (5-5), who received 13 digs and an ace from Madi Shaffer. The JV Hawks fell 27-29, 15-25 and the F/S Hawks won 25-18, 22-25, 22-20.
Oregon golf teams split match with Dixon
The Oregon High School varsity girls golf team carded a 198-209 victory against Dixon on Thursday, Sept. 12 at Silver Ridge. Sarah Eckardt earned medalist honors with a 43, while Aniyah Sarver followed with 46 for runner-up honors. The Oregon High School varsity boys golf team fell 170-184 despite a team-low 43 from Jackson Messenger. The girls are now 6-2 overall and 6-1 in the BNC. The boys are now 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the BNC.
Forreston golf team defeats Rochelle
The Forreston High School varsity golf team edged out Rochelle 168-171 at Fairways Golf Course on Thursday, Sept. 12. Kaden Brown tied for medalist honors with a 37, while Kendall Erdmann fired a 42 and Darin Greenfield finished with 44. Daylen Rahn shot 45 and Aspen McGlynn had 47 for the Cardinals, who are now 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the NUIC with the win.
Forreston volleyball team takes down East Dubuque
The Forreston High School varsity volleyball team won 27-25, 25-23 against East Dubuque on Thursday, Sept. 12. Jaiden Schneiderman totaled 17 kills and three aces, while Ennen Ferris dished out 23 assists and Hannah Vinnedge compiled 13 digs, one block and one ace. Bree Schneiderman added seven kills in the victory.
Oregon football team outlasts Genoa-Kingston
The Oregon High School varsity football team outlasted Genoa-Kingston for a 3-0 win on Friday, Sept. 13. Gavin Morrow kicked a 21-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to lift the Hawks over the Cogs. Hunter Bartel rushed for 128 yards on 18 carries, while Logan Weems rushed for 72 yards on 20 carries.
Polo football team dominates Kirkland/Hiawatha
The Polo High School varsity football team dominated Kirkland/Hiawatha for a 54-0 win on Friday, Sept. 13. Gus Mumford rushed for 133 yards and one touchdown on four carries while completing 4-of-5 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. Noah Dewey rushed for 32 yards and a touchdown on five carries while catching two passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Gage Zeigler rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on three carries and Mercer Mumford rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. JT Stevenson threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Korbin Kavanaugh.
Forreston football team falls short against Galena
The Forreston High School varsity football team fell just short against Galena, losing 19-18 on Friday, Sept. 13. Evan Boettner rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown and Brady Gill rushed for a 5-yard touchdown and a 1-yard touchdown. Dane Setterstrom rushed for 70 yards.
Byron football team rolls over Williamsville
The Byron High School varsity football team remained undefeated with a 41-3 win against Williamsville on Friday, Sept. 13. Andrew Talbert rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns, while Kaden McGough rumbled for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Brayden Knoll rushed for 73 yards and caught a 67-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Talbert.
Denton Shank had 11 total tackles and four tackles for loss on defense, while Jared Claunch added eight total tackles and three tackles for loss in the win.
Oregon boys soccer team loses to Genoa-Kingston
The Oregon High School varsity boys soccer team fell 3-1 against Genoa-Kingston on Monday, Sept. 16. Steven Guardado scored a goal on an assist from Diego Hernandez. Deryk Withers had eight saves for the Hawks (3-6-2, 2-3 BNC) in the loss to the Cogs.
Oregon golf teams split tri-match with Forreston and Polo
The Oregon High School varsity golf teams played with Polo and Forreston at Silver Ridge on Monday, Sept. 16. Forreston’s boys won with 166, while Oregon’s boys took second with 196 and Polo’s boys finished third with 221. Nole Campos led the Hawks with 48, while Kaden Brown earned medalist honors for Forreston with 37 and Cooper Dawson led Polo with 50. Oregon’s boys are now 8-6 overall and 4-4 in the Big Northern Conference.
The Oregon High School varsity girls golf team beat Polo 200-268 behind 45 from medalist Aniyah Sarver and 51 from Toni Withers. Elsa Monaco and Grace Monaco each shot 57 for Polo. Oregon’s girls are now 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the Big Northern Conference.

The Oregon High School varsity volleyball team won 25-18, 28-26 against Polo on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The Hawks are now 5-6 on the season. Madi Shaffer recorded 16 digs and six assists, while Addi Rufer added 10 digs and Anna Stender collected 20 digs with three aces. Grace Tremble totaled six kills and three digs for the Hawks, whose JV team fell 21-25, 25-18, 13-15.
Forreston golf team defeats Stockton
The Forreston High School varsity golf team is now 12-1 overall and 4-0 in the NUIC after a 168-188 win over Stockton at Woodbine Golf Course on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Kaden Brown and Daylen Rahn each shot 42 and Kendall Erdmann carded 40 to earn medalist honors. Aspen McGlynn added 44 and Darin Greenfield shot 46. Brendan Greenfield had 47.
Forreston volleyball team beats Pearl City
The Forreston High School varsity volleyball team defeated Pearl City 25-19, 25-22 on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Jaiden Schneidnerman had 12 kills and two blocks with one ace, while Bree Schneiderman added eight kills and Ennen Ferris dished out 12 assists. Aubrey Sanders collected 10 assists.
